Amazon Advertising Agency for Brands That Sell on Amazon
We manage Sponsored Products, Brands and Display with clear ACOS and TACoS reporting, and pair the ads with the listings and brand tools that convert the click.

The short answer
An Amazon advertising agency runs your Amazon PPC for you: it builds and manages Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display campaigns, controls ACOS and TACoS, and improves the listings behind the ads. Front Row does this for brands and manufacturers, with monthly reporting tied to total Amazon sales, not just ad sales.
What does an Amazon advertising agency do?
An Amazon advertising agency takes over the daily work of Amazon PPC management. That means researching keywords, structuring campaigns, setting bids and budgets, cutting wasted spend and reporting results. The best ones also fix what the ad lands on: the listing, the images, the A+ content and the brand Store.
Front Row has run Amazon programs as part of our Amazon services for brands that sell through Seller Central and Vendor Central. We work from a simple rule. Ads buy attention, but listings and brand tools decide whether the shopper buys. We manage both together.
We report on the numbers that matter to an owner: ad sales, total sales, advertising cost of sales (ACOS), return on ad spend (ROAS), total advertising cost of sales (TACoS) and new-to-brand customers. You see which campaigns earn their budget and which do not, and we act on it every week. Our consumer brand marketing work feeds the same plan.

Where We Help Amazon Sellers and Brand Owners
- Your Amazon ad spend is rising and you cannot tell which campaigns earn it.
- A manufacturer or consumer brand that sells through retail and wants a controlled Amazon presence.
- Sellers whose ACOS looks fine but total profit is not growing.
- Brands with Brand Registry access who are not yet using Stores, video or A+ content.
- Teams that outgrew a freelancer or an in-house person managing campaigns part time.
Amazon PPC management
Amazon PPC Management That Follows the Money
Amazon PPC management is the ongoing work of buying clicks on Amazon at a cost your margin can carry. It is not set-and-forget. Search terms shift, competitors change bids and your own stock and pricing move under the ads.
We start every account with an audit of campaign structure, search terms, placements and listing quality. Then we set a target ACOS for each product group from its real margin, not a generic number. Spend follows that target.
- Break-even ACOS equals your margin before ads. We manage below it to leave profit.
- Launch products get a higher target for a set period, then step down.
- Mature products are managed toward profit and TACoS.
- Every change is logged so you can see what moved the numbers.
Portfolio rationalization
Pause the Weak Campaigns and Fund the Efficient Ones
Most accounts we audit carry campaigns that never earned their budget. They were launched for a reason, never reviewed and left running. Portfolio rationalization is the cleanup: we rank every campaign by contribution to profit, pause what fails and move that budget to what works.
We pause with care. A campaign that looks weak on last-click ACOS may be feeding branded search or launching a new product. We check those links before we cut. Then we put the freed budget behind campaigns that have headroom, meaning they hit budget caps while holding target ACOS.
- Rank by ad sales, spend, ACOS and share of total sales.
- Pause or restructure campaigns with spend and no orders.
- Raise budgets only where impression share is capped.
- Repeat each quarter, because the ranking changes.
Brand tools
Brand Registry, A+ Content and Stores Make the Ads Pay
Brand Registry is Amazon's program that gives a trademark owner control over its listings and unlocks brand tools. Sellers need it to run Sponsored Brands or build a Store. Vendors can use both without it. We help brands register and then use what it opens.
A+ content replaces the plain description with images and comparison charts. It lifts the conversion rate on every click you pay for, so it lowers ACOS without touching a bid. Our design team builds the modules, and we test them against the old page.
- Brand Registry gives you tools to find and report infringing listings.
- A+ content explains features, sizes and use cases in images.
- Stores give shoppers an ad-free brand page to land on.
- Sponsored Brands video autoplays in search and adds reach for new products.
For manufacturers
Manufacturers Who Sell to Big-Box Also Sell on Amazon
If your line is on shelf at national retailers, shoppers also search for it on Amazon. Front Row has been a retail manufacturers' rep since 1973, so we understand both sides. Our mass and national retail work puts products on shelf. Amazon advertising decides how they show up online.
Channel conflict is the real risk. Prices on Amazon must respect your retail agreements, and unauthorized sellers can undercut them. We pair campaigns with MAP price monitoring so ad spend does not push traffic toward a listing you do not control.
What is an Amazon advertising agency?
An Amazon advertising agency is a firm that plans, runs and reports on your Amazon ads, and in most cases also manages the listings and brand tools those ads depend on. The work sits between a freelancer who adjusts bids and a full marketplace agency that runs the whole account.
What the work covers
- Campaign build and structure across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display.
- Keyword research, negative keywords and search-term mining.
- Bid and budget management, daily or weekly.
- Reporting on ACOS, ROAS, TACoS and new-to-brand customers.
- Recommendations on listings, pricing, stock and brand content.
Amazon marketing agency is the wider term. It adds account management, catalog work, Brand Registry and content. Amazon PPC agency is the narrower term for the paid side. We do both, because ads that send traffic to a weak listing waste money.
How does Amazon advertising work?
Amazon advertising is a pay-per-click auction. You bid on keywords, products or audiences, and Amazon shows your ad on search results, product pages and elsewhere. Most campaigns charge per click. Some Sponsored Brands campaigns can charge per thousand viewable impressions instead.
Three sponsored formats carry most brand budgets. They serve different jobs, and the strongest accounts use all three in order, alongside paid media off Amazon.
| Ad type | What it is | Best used for |
|---|---|---|
| Sponsored Products | Single-product ads in search results and on product pages, targeted by keyword or product | Capturing shoppers ready to buy and driving direct sales |
| Sponsored Brands | Banner-style ads with your logo, headline and products, a Store spotlight, or video | Brand awareness, new-to-brand customers and launches |
| Sponsored Display | Ads served to audiences on and off Amazon, including shoppers who viewed your product | Retargeting, defending your listings and reaching new audiences |
Sponsored Brands: Store and video
Sponsored Brands can send shoppers to a product list or to your Amazon Store. Video versions autoplay in search results. Sellers need Brand Registry for both. Vendors do not. We use them to introduce a new line and to bring in customers who have not bought from you before.
Why the order matters
Shoppers rarely buy on first sight. A brand ad introduces you, a Sponsored Products ad catches the search where they compare, and a Display ad follows the ones who left. The listing then has to close the sale. We plan the three together so they do not bid against each other.
How much does Amazon PPC management cost?
Amazon PPC management cost depends on the fee model and on how much ad spend you manage. Published agency fee ranges run from roughly 8% to 30% of ad spend, or a flat monthly retainer from about $1,500 to well past $10,000 for large accounts. Treat these as market ranges, not our quotes.
| Model | Typical market range | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Percentage of ad spend | About 8% to 20% for most accounts, higher with added services | Fees rise when spend rises, even if results do not |
| Flat monthly retainer | About $1,500 to $5,000 for mid-size accounts, more for enterprise | Scope: which tasks and how many campaigns are included |
| Hybrid fee plus bonus | A base fee with a bonus tied to a target | Who sets the target, and which sales count |
| One-time audit or setup | Quoted per project | Whether it includes the fixes or only the report |
What drives the price
- Monthly ad spend and the number of products and marketplaces.
- Whether Seller Central, Vendor Central or both are in scope.
- Brand content work: A+ pages, Store builds and video.
- Reporting depth and meeting cadence.
We scope after an audit, so the fee matches the work. We do not publish one price, because a ten-product account and a four-hundred-product catalog are different jobs. Our billing is hybrid and quoted case by case. Ask any agency, including us, what is in scope in writing.
How do you structure an Amazon PPC campaign?
Structure an Amazon PPC campaign by product group and by goal, so each campaign has one job and one target ACOS. Mixing launch products, best sellers and brand defense in one campaign hides what each one earns.
This is the process we follow on a new or inherited account.
- Audit the account We review campaigns, search terms, placements, listing quality, pricing and stock. We note what spends without selling.
- Set targets from margin We compute break-even ACOS per product group and set a working target below it.
- Group products by role Hero products, new launches, long-tail items and brand terms each get their own campaigns.
- Build the match-type ladder Auto campaigns discover terms. Proven terms move to exact and phrase campaigns. Weak terms become negatives.
- Layer Brands and Display Sponsored Brands add awareness and new customers. Sponsored Display adds retargeting and product-page defense.
- Review weekly, prune quarterly Weekly: search terms and bids. Quarterly: portfolio rationalization, where we pause weak campaigns and fund efficient ones.
Keep the structure simple enough that anyone on your team can read it. A naming convention that shows product, ad type, match type and goal saves hours in every review.
What are ACOS, ROAS and TACoS, and which should you track?
ACOS is ad spend divided by ad sales, ROAS is ad sales divided by ad spend, and TACoS is ad spend divided by total sales. Track all three, because each answers a different question.
| Metric | Formula | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| ACOS | Ad spend / ad sales | How efficient the ads are, campaign by campaign |
| ROAS | Ad sales / ad spend | Sales per advertising dollar, the inverse of ACOS |
| TACoS | Ad spend / total sales | How dependent the business is on ads |
| New-to-brand | Purchases by shoppers who have not bought your brand on Amazon in the last 12 months | Whether ads find new buyers or only recapture existing ones |
How we use them
ACOS and ROAS manage campaigns. TACoS manages the account. If ad spend rises and TACoS falls, ads are lifting organic sales too. If TACoS rises with no sales growth, the ads are only paying for sales you would have made.
New-to-brand matters most for brands. A campaign with a high ACOS can still be worth it if most buyers are new, because their later orders cost nothing to acquire. We report it for Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display wherever Amazon provides it.
How do you choose the best Amazon PPC agency?
Choose an Amazon PPC agency by how it reports, what it will pause and whether it will show you the account, not by its promises. The best Amazon PPC agency for you is the one that can explain every dollar of your spend.
- Ask to see an anonymized audit. It should name specific wasted campaigns, not generalities.
- Ask how they set target ACOS. The answer should start with your margin.
- Confirm you own the ad account and can see every change.
- Check that reporting includes TACoS and total sales, not just ad sales.
- Ask what they do with the listings, images and A+ content.
- Ask for contract terms in writing. We set no minimum commitments.
Red flags
- A guaranteed ROAS or ACOS before they have seen your margin.
- No access to the account or only screenshot reports.
- Fees that rise automatically with spend and no added scope.
- One account manager running dozens of accounts with no review cadence.
Front Row is a Google Partner and a Shopify Plus Partner, and we have been in business since 1973. For Amazon specifically, you can see our My Custom Golf Ball case study for what a restructure and store redesign produced.
What mistakes make Amazon ads waste money?
The most common mistake is running ads to a listing that does not convert. Fixing the page often beats raising the budget.
- Managing to one ACOS for the whole catalog instead of by margin.
- Leaving auto campaigns running without negative keywords.
- Bidding on your own brand terms with no check on whether you would win them organically.
- Ignoring stock levels, so ads push traffic to items that are out of stock.
- Skipping Brand Registry as a seller, which locks you out of Sponsored Brands and Stores.
- Judging campaigns on a few days of data.
- Letting unauthorized sellers undercut price while you pay for the click.
How do you measure Amazon advertising results?
Measure Amazon advertising by total sales and profit, with ACOS, ROAS and TACoS as the working gauges. Ad-attributed sales alone overstate or understate what ads did.
Our monthly report shows these views side by side.
- Ad sales, total sales and TACoS, month over month.
- ACOS and ROAS by product group against the target.
- New-to-brand share on Brand and Display campaigns.
- Store and detail-page traffic and conversion rate.
- The pause list, the funded list and the reason for each.
For My Custom Golf Ball, our Amazon work, alongside the rest of the digital program, produced +216% Amazon store traffic and +52% revenue from Amazon. That came from a store redesign, catalog listing enhancements, campaign restructuring and better use of Amazon brand tools, working together.
Pair this with off-Amazon work where it fits. Our ecommerce PPC and Google Shopping service and our ecommerce marketing agency practice share data with the Amazon program, so you see one picture of demand.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does an Amazon advertising agency do?
It builds and manages your Amazon ad campaigns, researches keywords, sets bids and budgets, reports on ACOS, ROAS and TACoS, and usually improves the listings, A+ content and Store that convert the click. Front Row also handles Brand Registry support and account management.
What is the difference between an Amazon PPC agency and an Amazon marketing agency?
An Amazon PPC agency focuses on paid campaigns. An Amazon marketing agency adds account management, catalog work, Brand Registry, A+ content and Stores. We do both, because strong ads still fail on a weak listing, and a strong listing needs traffic.
How much do Amazon PPC management services cost?
Published agency pricing runs roughly 8% to 30% of ad spend, or a flat retainer from about $1,500 into five figures for large accounts. We scope after an audit. Spend and fee are separate, and any quote should state the scope in writing.
What is a good ACOS on Amazon?
A good ACOS is one below your break-even point, which is your profit margin before ad costs. A product with a 35% margin breaks even at 35% ACOS. Launch campaigns may run higher on purpose, and mature products should run lower. There is no single right number.
What is the difference between ACOS and TACoS?
ACOS divides ad spend by ad-attributed sales and measures campaign efficiency. TACoS divides ad spend by total sales, including organic, and shows how much the business relies on ads. A falling TACoS with steady sales means your organic rank is improving.
Do I need Brand Registry to advertise on Amazon?
Not for Sponsored Products. Sellers need it for Sponsored Brands, Stores and A+ content, while vendors can run Sponsored Brands and build a Store without it. It also gives you tools to report counterfeits. If you own a trademark, register it first. We help brands through the process and set up the tools it unlocks.
What are new-to-brand customers?
New-to-brand customers are buyers who have not purchased from your brand on Amazon in the last 12 months. Amazon reports them for Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display. They show whether your ads are finding fresh buyers or only recapturing people who already know you.
How long does it take to see results from Amazon PPC?
Expect the first useful data in two to four weeks, since campaigns need clicks before bids can be tuned. Cleaning up wasted spend can show up within a month. New-product launches and brand-building take longer, so judge them over a full quarter.
Can you manage Amazon ads if I sell through Vendor Central?
Yes. We manage advertising for Seller Central and Vendor Central accounts. The tools and reports differ a little, and Vendor accounts often have different margin math, so we set targets for each setup separately.
Will Amazon advertising conflict with my retail accounts?
It can if pricing is not controlled. Selling at a price below your retail agreements causes friction with big-box buyers. We pair Amazon campaigns with price monitoring, and with our retail team's view of what your retail accounts expect, so both channels stay in step.
